TL;DR: We do not collect any data or metadata about you. All data processing is done locally. Your data is always stored in an encrypted form. You have the possibility to share the results in an encrypted form with entities you explicitly choose.

Bugbane (“the App”) is provided by Osservatorio Nessuno OdV (“we,” “us,” or “our”) to you without any warranty, for free.

The following Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when using the App across all distribution platforms, including:

• Google Play
• F-Droid
• Private distribution channels (e.g. Github Release, Obtainium, etc)

1. No Data Collection #

The App does not collect, store, transmit, or process any personal data on our servers.

Specifically, we do not collect:

• Personal identifiers
• Contact information
• Device information
• Usage analytics
• Location data
• Metadata or logs

1.1. Crash Logs

If you are installing the application through the Google Play Store and with Google Play Services, Google will collect usage data, diagnostics, crash logs, and Application not responding (ANR) events. This do not contain sensitive or personal data.

If instead you are installing the application through a different distribution channel, minimal crash logs will be collected after crash event through the ACRA library. You, the user, have the power to share such log with us using one of the supported channels (e.g. Email).

2. Consensual Forenisc Data Processing #

The purpose of the App is to process forenisc data form the device and perform local analisys with various Indicator of Compromise (IoCs).
This data could include personal data like received SMS, installed Apps, system logs, crashes, etc.

All information used within the App is:

• Stored locally on the device (in the App sandbox)
• Processed only locally on the device
• Managed and shared solely at the user’s discretion

Users always retain full control over their information, including what is shared and with whom.
Indicator of Compromise are downloaded from the internet using various sources.
The result of the processing and analysis is never communicated to us.

3. Local Encryption #

To ensure data protection:

• All information stored within the App is encrypted locally
• All shared information is encrypted by default
• We do not have access to encryption keys or decrypted content, in any way

4. No Third-Party Access or Services #

The App does not:

• Use analytics services
• Integrate advertising networks
• Share data with third parties
• Connect to external servers
• Use cloud storage or syncing

5. Children’s Privacy #

Because the App collects no personal information, it inherently complies with child privacy protections. However, the App is not specifically designed to be used by children.

6. Changes to This Policy #

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. Any changes will be reflected with an updated date at the top of this document.
